Michael Malecek joined the Town of Mills River in 2021. Mr. Malecek has a certificate in Municipal Administration from the UNC School of Government, is a North Carolina Certified Zoning Official, and a certified stormwater inspection and maintenance professional. Mr. Malecek has a degree in Sociology & Urban Studies, and a graduate certificate in Urban Planning & Design. As Planning Director, Mr. Malecek serves as the Town's Planning & Zoning Administrator, Subdivision Administrator, and Watershed Administrator. Mr. Malecek oversees all current planning, long-range planning, and transportation planning efforts, and directs the planning, zoning, and community development activities in the Town to ensure coordinated guidance and regulation of the orderly growth and development of Mills River.
