Latest News- The Town of Mills River recently purchased the 70-acre dairy farm adjacent to the park. As we start the master plan process for the expansion of the park, your thoughts and ideas play a vital role. We invite you to take the survey online, or on paper at Town Hall. The survey will be available until October 11, 2023.
- The YMCA Mobile Market will be held at the Willow Oak picnic shelter in Mills River Park on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Pick up your free produce on October 3 & 17 from 2-4pm.
- It has been confirmed that Santa is coming back to Mills River on December 9. Stay tuned for details!

Parks & Recreation- The final Movie in the Park event of the season will also feature hayrides! Join us on October 14 at 5:30pm for hayrides and Ghostbusters (1984) (PG) will be shown at dusk.
- Work on the back walking trail/area continues this month. The Town has hired Moore & Sons to construct a large greenspace area including converting the back field into a wildflower meadow. Expect the first wildflowers in the Spring of 2024! Thanks for your patience during this transition.
- Our website now allows online registration of our park's picnic shelters, athletic fields, and for our programs. To create an account, check availability, and reserve a shelter for your next event, click here.
- Please remember to not move or stack rocks in the Mills River. Doing so places at risk the habitat of our local aquatic species, can increase risk of erosion, and negatively impact the ecosystem.
- REFIT dance fitness classes are being offered by the Parks and Recreation department on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-10am. Please click here for more information or register for a class here.
- Please remember when conditions are wet, do not bring your pet to the dog park.
- We are currently seeking independent contract instructors for recreation programs. If you have a special skill or certification to teach a class, reach out to the Parks and Recreation Department at recreation@millsriver.org

Tax Information 2023- Property Tax bills for 2023 were mailed in August. A mailing issue may prevent some bills from being received. If you think you should have gotten a bill but didn’t, all bills are available to view, print, and/or pay at our website. Please note that the Town does not charge a fee to pay taxes with a credit card, but the credit card company charges a convenience fee for online payments. As always, cash and check payments are welcome.
- The Town Council adopted the FY 2023-2024 Budget on June 22. The tax rate was lowered by two pennies to $0.17. To view a copy of the budget, visit the Town's website or click here.
- Henderson County released 2023 reappraisal values in February. If you are interested in appealing your value please click here for more information. As a reminder, the County sets values and the Town sets the tax rate. ($0.17 per $100,000, down two pennies from last year.)

Friendly Reminders- The Town has formed a committee to develop a farmland and open space preservation program. The goal of this group is to develop a system of standards the Town can apply to applicants seeking to place their farms or open space land in conservation easements. Stay tuned for more information!
- The Town recently launched an online portal where residents can anonymously submit complaints for properties in Town. Once a complaint is submitted, staff will investigate to determine if additional action is needed.

Hours of Note- The Mills River Farm Market is held on Saturdays from May to October at the Mills River Elementary parking lot from 8am to 12pm.
- The Mills River Library hours of operation are:
- Mondays from 9am to 6pm
- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9am to 5pm
- Friday from 9am to 3pm
- This branch is closed on Saturdays and all branches are closed on Sundays.
