Meeting Procedures
The Town Council has mandated that all committee meetings abide by NC Open Meetings Law. This includes proper media notification, an agenda when possible, and informal public comments.

Agricultural Advisory Committee
The Agricultural Advisory Committee is charged with reviewing policies and procedures, making recommendations, advising Council on matters that affect agriculture, and preserving the agricultural heritage in Mills River.

Board of Adjustment
The Board is state-regulated, meets in quasi-judicial hearings, and applies the Town Zoning Ordinance in appeals from decisions of the Zoning Administrator or when a property owner requests a variance or minor special use permit.

Planning Board
The Planning Board is a state-regulated board that makes recommendations and advises Council on matters relating to the Town’s land use regulations.

Parks, Trails, & Recreation Advisory Committee
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee developed and recommended a master plan for development of Mills River Park.

Land Preservation Committee
Protect and enhance the rural, small-town character of Mills River. Promote preservation of agricultural and natural lands while respecting property rights. Manage growth and invest in Mills River to promote land stewardship, community development, and fiscal responsibility.
